Four editions of this work are known. In its first version, in 1834, it was part of the atlas "The London Atlas of Universal Geography...". The second, from 1839, was the first to be distributed individually, without lining -this one- and covered. The third, from 1842. And the fourth, from 1852, in a smaller variant, integrated the book by Woodbine Parish, Buenos Ayres and the provinces of the Rio de la Plata (...), in the English version made in London and in the same year, in Spanish, Argentina.

Parish was the first British consul in Argentina, where he established a friendly relationship with Brigadier General Juan Manuel de Rosas, governor of the province of Buenos Aires, who ordered that as much geographical information as possible be provided to him. In Great Britain, John Arrowsmith, a member of a family specializing in cartography, provided with such valuable information, took her to this map, raising one of the most precise geographical charts ever published.

It includes the provinces of Plata, Paraguay, southern Bolivia and Brazil; Chile, and the north of Patagonia, while the rest of that region and the adjacent islands appear inside a box, on a small map. It offers a rich compendium of geographical details such as rivers, elevations, cities and smaller towns. Understand that these news were of vital importance for British capital, in full hegemonic expansion and always in search of new markets.
