Carving set. Joseph Rodgers & Sons Ltd. Sheffield. England.

Knife and fork with two teeth, encased in deer antler. They are kept in excellent condition in their original box with your brand's stamp on the silk inside, including your emblem of the star and the Maltese cross. Measures. Knife. Blade length: 31 cm / 12.2 in. Total length: 44.4 cm / 17.48 in. Fork: 27 cm / 10.63 in.

The blade has a particular shape, close to the larger ricasso and more stylized towards the tip. We do not know if it is an original factory design or a later adaptation.

In the so-called "Golden Age of Sheffield" -from the beginning of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th-, the firm Joseph Rodgers & Son was the most important in this world center of the cutlery. Their style, the quality of their master cutlers and the nobility of the materials incorporated in their pieces allowed them to obtain the rank of "royal suppliers" for five British monarchs: George IV, William IV, Queen Victoria. Edward VII and George V. Prestige size was projected in a worldwide demand that today is reflected in the collection of all its articles.
